Some Kamloops residents are expected to be without water until about 9 p.m. tonight, after a water main was damaged in Aberdeen.
Utility services manager Greg Wightman says the line was hit by a third-party contractor at Aberdeen Driver and Highway 5A.
“Certainly the most impacted area is going to be up in Knutsford. We don’t have ability to get water up that route right now. So certainly anyone who is out of water, please do call in if you have questions. But it’s likely due to this water break we’re dealing with.”
The line was hit at about noon.
Wightman says the city has been made aware that it was hit by a contractor, but he says further details are still unclear.
“Certainly the crews on site are looking into that as well. Any time a contractor damages a piece of city infrastructure we certainly want to make sure we know what was going on there. Often cases, we’re able to recover a lot of the costs for our crews’ work. But we’ll have some investigation that’s going to be required before we’re able to get to that point.”
