UPDATE:

Power is now back on for BC Hydro customers in Chase and several communities in the Shuswap.

BC Hydro says power went out for more than 10,000 customers at 8:50 a.m. in Chase, Sorrento, Blind Bay, Scotch Creek and other nearby communities.

The cause of the outages were all listed as “transmission signal failure.”

A special weather statement is in place for the South Thompson and the Shuswap, with five-to-15 centimetres of snow expected to fall today in those areas.
