People in Kamloops should brace for another round of snow, for tonight and tomorrow.
Forecaster Armel Castellan says snow will start accumulating tonight at higher elevations, with wet snow possible at the valley bottom.
“But tomorrow, with the intensity of the snow and the snow levels rising throughout the morning, the morning is a good chance where you might see two-to-four centimetres. Maybe wet snow, but nonetheless could accumulate for sure.
From tonight until Saturday morning, the Coquihalla could see up 20 cm of snow from Hope to Merritt and up to 10 centimetres from Merritt to Kamloops. And the Rogers Pass could see up to 15 cm in that time.
“The highway passes, we’re going to see not the accumulating snow – the amounts are well above five-to-10 centimetres there tonight and tomorrow – but you’re also going to be dealing with some fairly gusty winds. So the visibilities as well will be reduced, and so should make for some very tricky conditions,” Castellan says.
At time of posting, no special weather statement is in place for the Kamloops area or the Coquihalla, but Castellan says that could change this afternoon.
