A winter storm warning is now in place for the Coquihalla Highway, between Hope and Merritt.
Environment Canada says up to 35 centimetres of snow is expected to fall by tomorrow morning, and it says the heaviest snowfall will come down this afternoon before turning into flurries this evening.
“Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions,” a bulletin reads from forecasters.
Meanwhile, the Coquihalla from Kamloops to Merritt is expected to see 15 cm of snow by tomorrow morning. Rogers Pass along the Trans-Canada Highway is in line for up to 20 cm of snow in that time. At least 10 cm of snow is also forecast on Highway 97 at the Begbie Summit, between Clinton and 100 Mile House.
In Kamloops, forecasters are calling for 2-4 cm of snow before it changes to rain this afternoon. Flurries are also expected overnight tonight.
