Two pitbulls were put down yesterday after attacking livestock at a farm near 100 Mile House.
RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says police were called to a farm in Forest Grove, between 100 Mile and Canim Lake, just before 1:30 a.m., at the farm in the 4000-block of Chuckwagon Road.
“There was a report of dangerous dogs attacking livestock there, and when the homeowner came out to intervene the dogs allegedly charged at him as well. They were extremely large dogs, commonly called pitbulls. Despite the efforts of the police and the homeowners, they could not get control of the dogs, or find out who owned the dogs.”
Specifically, several chickens on the property were killed by the dogs.
Saunderson says police had no choice but to put the two dogs down because of aggressive behaviour, and she says Mounties still are not sure who the owner is.
She says police are looking to contact the dogs’ owner, and asks anyone with information to call 100 Mile House RCMP.
