The BC Teachers Federation says it feels like it was only a matter of time before COVID-19 was reported at a Kamloops school.
Speaking on the NL Noon Report, Teri Mooring points out there have been hundreds of exposures at schools in the Lower Mainland.
She wants to see the province make masks mandatory in classrooms and wants classroom sizes limited to 15 students in Fraser Health.
“I think there needs to be a response to what’s going on. We’ve been wanting to prevent some things from happening, and that’s why we’ve talking about reducing classroom density and a mask policy, since August actually. But we’re certainly in a situation now where that hasn’t happened, and we’re seeing more and more exposure events all the time.”
In Kamloops, an exposure event has been reported at NorKam Secondary after one case of COVID-19, believed to be a student. A notice went out to parents on Saturday, although the potential exposure happened eight days earlier according to Interior Health.
