People who live in Juniper Ridge are being asked to use less today because of a “significant” water main break this morning.
The city says it happened at about 5:45 a.m. on Highland Drive, just outside of Valleyview Arena.
Utility Services Manager Greg Wightman says water supply is limited for Juniper as a result, and says reducing household usage will make sure there’s enough water supply for today.
Wightman says people in Juniper should avoid using their dishwashers, washing machines, and taking showers, as well as other uses that require a lot of water.
Repairs are expected to be done by 10 p.m. tonight.
As of noon, traffic at Highland Road to-and-from Juniper is at a single lane with crews working to repair the water main.
The cause of the break is not yet known, but Wightman says it’s not because of construction in the area. Crews are currently doing stormwater upgrades at Valleyview Arena and will wrap up this month; that project is worth $600,000.
