City crews are again asking Juniper Ridge residents to conserve water after a second water main break on Highland Drive.
Utility Services Manager Greg Wightman says while crews were able to complete repairs to the water main line after yesterday’s break, a second break happened today, with repairs now expected to be complete by late afternoon tomorrow.
He adds crews have been able to maintain adequate water supply to the Juniper neighbourhood but residents are being told to not run their washing machines, dishwashers, and to avoid taking long showers until repairs are complete.
“We understand limiting water usage on the weekend is more challenging,” Wightman said. “We’re asking residents to do what they can to ensure we can maintain sufficient water supply and fire suppression.”
Earlier in the day, the city said it would be working on site today so crews could return the water system to normal and repair the road.
“Steep grades and challenging soil conditions made it difficult to locate the failure [yesterday],” Wightman said, earlier in the day. “Our crews worked tirelessly to solve this issue and restore critical water supply.”
Drivers can expect to see some impacts to traffic throughout the weekend while this work is ongoing.
