Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc is reporting a community exposure of COVID-19 after a band employee tested positive for the virus yesterday.
The band says the affected worker was in the CLC Building between 12:30 p.m. and 12:55 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, for a short meeting with another employee. The affected worker walked through a common area and was also the second floor of the school building and third floor of the administration building.
That worker had no COVID-19 symptoms on Friday but was tested on Sunday. Details around the circumstances that led to worker getting tested are not clear at this time.
Tk’emlúps Health and Safety Advisor Ron Tronson says anyone at risk of exposure would have already been contacted by health officials, adding no one who was in either of the buildings is at risk of being exposed.
“Upon interview, it was confirmed that the worker had followed all safety protocols upon entering the buildings, use hand sanitizers wore a mask and practice social distancing. The worker had very limited contacts during the contact tracing and is in self-isolation at present,” Tronson added.
Tk’emlúps staff also encourage all residents to follow public health orders and COVID-19 safety protocols, noting it will continue to implementing COVID-19 precautions while releasing as much information as possible regarding the virus to band members.
All Tk’emlúps employees who test positive for COVID-19 have been told to contact their manager or supervisor and to also notify Ron Tronson at 778-220-6209.
