The Mustard Seed in Kamloops will now be open on Sundays and Mondays moving forward to offer resources to people in need.
While the emergency shelter has been open daily, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., the day-use outreach centre will now be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. It has been open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Interim managing director Kelly Thomson says the added hours will help serve more people in Kamlops.
“We greatly appreciate the support we have received from the City of Kamloops and BC Housing to make these extended hours possible,
Thomson says.
“With the coldest months just around the corner and the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting our community, it’s very important for our vulnerable neighbours to have access to safe, indoor spaces. We are really happy to be able to provide that space for them.”
The day-use outreach centre provides meals and support services for street-affected residents.
