Kamloops RCMP say they took another eleven impaired drivers off the road this past weekend.
“The Kamloops RCMP continues to be pro-active throughout the holiday season targeting impaired drivers to ensure our roadways are safe,” said Sgt. Darren Michels. “Over the past weekend several road checks were conducted in the city.”
Michels says there was one vehicle that was impounded and there were another six motor vehicle violations over the last week.
“We are reminding everyone to plan ahead this holiday season, arrange a ride, and arrive safely,” he added. “We will be continuing our efforts conducting these road checks throughout the holiday season.”
Last week, police said they took six impaired drivers off the road in Kamloops.
The annual CounterAttack road check campaign got underway on Nov. 27, and will last into the new year. Data from ICBC shows an 67 people are killed an average each year because of impaired driving with more than half of impaired-related crashes – 56 per cent of the total – occurring on weekends.
