If you’d like to support a great local cause in Kamloops and win some holiday cash, today is your last chance as it is the final day to get in on the ‘Y’ 50/50 lottery.
Spokesperson Bryce Herman says the jackpot continues to increase, with 50 per cent going to go to go to the winner with the other 50 per cent going to help the Kamloops Y.
“We’re going to wrap it up 11:59 tonight, our licence ends at the end of the day today so we have to be out before midnight,” he said.
The original goal was to grow the pot to $400,000, and speaking on the NL Morning News, Herman said it won’t make it that high, but it’ll still be a big chunk of cash.
“If we went all out today, we could sell it out but that might be a bit of a reach. You know, we can build as far as $400,000 but it’s currently sitting at just a little below $260,000 so I think $300,000 is certainly doable,” he said.
“I think that’s a push that I would certainly like to see if we can make it a goal, let’s see if Kamloops can’t push this to 300 and if we crack that level that would be fantastic but certainly like to see it build to that.”
Herman adds he is grateful to everyone who has bought tickets which made the draw a possibility, noting 2020 has been a particularly tough year for fundraisers.
“We’re in a situation where, obviously this time of year, there’s a lot going on and a lot of distractions and certainly COVID hasn’t been the best to any of us so we do appreciate everything that everyone has done to make this a great success,” he added.
“The $100 purchases are gone though. We always say they are limited. Twenty tickets for $100 sold out at the end of last week but we still get the eight for $50 and three for $25 available.”
You can get your ticket packages online at KamloopsY5050.ca
The draw is Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. and it will be streamed live on the Kamloops Y’s Facebook page.
