Snowfall in
As crews clear snow today, Kamloops staff are asking people not to take out any of their issues on plow drivers.
Speaking today with NL News, streets manager Glen Farrow says drivers have been dealing more often with verbal abuse and other confrontations.
“A lot of these operators are enduring a lot of unfriendly activities. Some are abusive; some snow shovels being hit against trucks, some snow being sprayed at our trucks. More altercations, more interactions with the public and the operators than we really need to have out there,” he says.
“Generally it’s around windrows. Definitely windrows in cul-de-sac bulbs. So if we look at Kamloops and the amount of hills we have and a lot of the building we’ve done, we have over 550 cul-de-sac bulbs in town. So that right there, from a design perspective, is a challenge, and time consuming.”
Farrow says crews can’t block driveways or dump snow on yards, so they have to distribute snow evenly onto windrows.
He says any complaints should be directed to the city’s civic operations department which can then go through him or other management staff.
