B.C. health officials are worried that daily cases of COVID-19 may start to rise.
Dr. Bonnie Henry points out numbers were down between Dec. 24-29, but she says the number of tests were down as much as 50 per cent each day.
“And partly it’s that people don’t want to be tested and have to isolate before the holiday, which is worrisome. Because we know that people are getting together, some people. And even if it’s just your household, you may bring this into your household and spread it to them.”
Henry says testing is expected to go up this week, and says that likely means more cases.
She also says the average incubation period for COVID-19 symptoms to arrive is five-to-seven days after exposure.
There was an average of 441 cases per day in B.C. between Dec. 24-29. And while active cases dropped in that time, from 8,865 to 7,580, the number of hospitalizations from COVID-19 went up, from 341 to 373.
