Police in the Central Okanagan are investigating the death of a woman at Big White Ski Resort over the weekend.
RCMP say about 4:17 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, emergency crews rushed to the ski resort in response to a 911 emergency call.
Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy says police learned that the 57-year-old woman had been skiing but failed to meet her group. She says the woman’s body was found in a wooded area but crews were not able to resuscitate her.
“Despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the woman passed away. At this time, criminality is not suspected in her death,” she said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.”
While authorities have not released a name, the woman has been identified on social media as Carrie Koski, a nurse at Kelowna General Hospital. A facebook post from Mom’s Stop the Harm says she died doing something she loved.
At this time, its not clear how Koski died. The BC Coroners Service are also investigating.
