Police have made an arrest after a stabbing in Lower Nicola over the weekend.
Cpl. Derrick Francis says Merritt RCMP were called on Sunday to the Rocky Pines reserve within Lower Nicola, after reports of an assault.
Upon arrival, police found “two combatants,” and one had been stabbed multiple times.
Francis says the stabbing victim was taken to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for emergency surgery, saying that person has a serious puncture wound in their abdomen. That person is still in hospital.
Meanwhile, the suspect was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries after being arrested at the scene.
Further details have not been provided, but Francis says police are recommending charges to the Crown.
