Four residents of a long-term care home in Kamloops have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Interior Health.
That’s at the Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre, at the corner of Tranquille Road and Southill Street, which has led to an outbreak being declared at that facility.
The long-term care home has 130 beds, including 125 that are publicly funded.
Visits have now been cut off to the care home, apart from visits to residents who are nearing end of life.
The health authority says close contacts of the residents are now in self-isolation. It also does not appear that any of the four affected residents are in hospital.
This is the second COVID-19 outbreak in a long-term care home in Kamloops; the first one, at The Hamlets at Westsyde, involved just a single staff member when it was declared in mid-November.
