Interior Health is warning about a drug circulating on the streets of Kamloops that contains fentanyl.
It says a pinkish-red substance is being called “down,” and it contains fentanyl, caffeine, benzodiazepines and mannitol.
IH says the drug causes a high risk of overdose, saying naloxone may not respond to it.
The health authority recommends that users get their drugs checked at ASK Wellness at 433 Tranquille Road, where they can also be provided with take-home drug test strips. IH also advises people not to use drugs alone.
The drug warning will be in place for the next week.
