Parents of students at four Kamloops schools were sent COVID-19 exposure notices over the weekend.
An exposure at Summit Elementary was reported on four days last week, Jan. 18 to 21, while at Sa-Hali Secondary there was an exposure on three days, from Jan. 18 to 20 – the first exposure at both of these schools.
There was also an exposure at Marion Schilling Elementary on Jan. 21 – the second exposure at the school after one on Jan. 14.
The fourth exposure was reported at Valleyview Secondary with the exposure happening on Jan. 20 – the second reported exposure at Valleyview after one on Jan. 11.
Contact tracing is underway and Interior Health will reach out to people who are considered close contacts with those who have tested positive. At this time, it remains unclear how many cases are connected to each school in Kamloops.
People who are not contacted by health officials are encouraged to go to school as normal.
Speaking on NL Newsday last week, SD73 Superintendent Terry Sullivan said schools continue to be safe places for staff and students to be in, despite an increase in exposure events after students returned to class this year.
There have now been COVID-19 exposures at 14 schools across the district – nine of which have happened this semester.
