A mobile home was completely destroyed by fire this morning on the Neskonlith Indian Band.
It happened at about 6:30 a.m. on Celewt Road, just off of Kamloops-Shuswap Road, on the north side of the South Thompson River.
Chief of Chase Fire Rescue, Brian Lauzon, says the home was completely up in flames by the time crews arrived.
“It was basically across (Highway 1) from the Hoffman’s Bluff area, on the Trans-Canada. Quite visible from that area. Luckily the wind was to our favour, it didn’t spread anywhere, and exposures were kept to a minimum.”
Lauzon says no one was home when the fire broke out. “Thankfully the owners had left the premises earlier in the morning.”
He says the cause is not known.
