A family-owned music store in Kamloops is the set of a new Cable TV show that features live music – something many people have been missing during the pandemic.
The show is called The Music Life and it’s being shot at Lee’s Music on Battle Street.
Co-owner and host Mike Miltmore says the show will feature all things local from community leaders, artists, and of course local musicians like the first episode’s guest, The Margit Sky Project. Also part of the first episode is the Executive Director of the Kamloops Food Bank, Bernadette Siracky.
“In a private, COVID friendly way, they performed two songs. We did and interview with them and I’ve got to tell you, it was the first live music I’ve had in quite some time and I really enjoyed it,” he said.
“They came in, we cleared some space in our music store and set up a drum kit, we’ve got a Hammond organ set up there, we’ve got bass gear. Basically a musician dream equipment because it’s all there.”
Speaking on NL Newsday, Miltmore says he missed live music more than he thought.
“My life was all about concerts and all about music. In this last year I realized I really miss it as much as everybody else and this is a way that we can kind of give back,” he said.
“We have all missed live music, and connection to people, and my goal with The Music Life is to bring that connection virtually to you.”
Shaw Cable will televise the episode this Saturday, but you can also watch it online with the plan to have new episodes every two weeks.
