Kamloops RCMP and Kamloops Search and Rescue are still searching after a report that a man went into the North Thompson River and disappeared last night.
Emergency crews were first called at 7:30 p.m. last night, to an area near Schubert Drive and Chestnut Avenue.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says a man reportedly walked into the river and tried to swim across, saying witnesses saw him bobb up and down before disappearing underwater.
Evelyn says upon interviewing witnesses, a white man in his 30s was seen who looked lost was seen in the area about two hours earlier.
Kamloops Search and Rescue’s drone team and swiftwater rescue team were involved last night and this morning, searching with police, fire and ambulance crews, but no one has been found.
Evelyn says an RCMP dive team is heading to investigate and says KSAR continues to patrol the waters, and she says more information will be released when it’s available.
