Four days later, and still no sign of a man who went into the North Thompson River and disappeared.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says crews are still searching and haven’t found anyone. She says an RCMP Dive Team was out on the weekend, as well as an Air 4 police helicopter, and says the dive team will return tomorrow to scour the waters.
Emergency crews were first informed on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. by witnesses that a man went into the water and was apparently trying to swim across before disappearing. The person went in the water near Schubert Drive and Chestnut Avenue.
Evelyn says crews were able to track footprints, and based on findings from a police dog service and witness accounts, police are certain that somebody is missing. However, she says Mounties are still not sure who that man is.
A potential missing person is only described as a slender Caucasian man, who may be in his thirties. Witnesses reported to police that a man was walking around Schubert and Chestnut and looked lost about two hours before someone went in the water.
Anyone with details on the circumstances of the missing person or on who that person is, is asked to call Kamloops RCMP.
