Kamloops RCMP say a driver may have intentionally struck a pedestrian on Third Avenue and Nicola Street downtown earlier this morning.
RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says a man was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries just after 11:30 a.m. She says the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
“Police are in the early stages of their investigation as they continue to gather physical and eye witness evidence at the scene,” she said. “Although the investigation is still ongoing at this time, initial findings suggest the pedestrian and the driver were known to each other and the circumstances surrounding the incident may have involved criminality.”
She says a woman was arrested and is in police custody.
If you have any information about the incident, you’re asked to contact Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2021-3551.
As of publishing, police say to avoid the area as the road is temporarily closed while police investigate.
