
A member of the Valleyview School community is self-isolating at home after testing positive for COVID-19.
In a letter to parents, Principal Barb Hamblett says the exposure took place on Wednesday through Friday of last week, Jan. 27, 28, and 29. This is the second exposure at Valleyview Secondary this year with the previous exposure reported back on Jan. 11.
As has been the policy, school officials say if parents haven’t been contacted by public health teams, their kids are not at risk of developing COVID-19. If you have questions or concerns about COVID-19, you’re also asked to contact 811.
School District 73 Superintendent Terry Sullivan also confirmed to NL News that there was an exposure of COVID-19 at David Thompson Elementary in Westsyde. He says the exposure happened on Monday and Tuesday of this week, Feb. 1 and 2.
It means there are ten Kamloops schools with an active exposure – nine within the Kamloops-Thompson School District as well as the private St. Ann’s Academy.
Sa-Hali Secondary remains the most concerning at present with 16 cases at the school after one more student tested positive.
Other SD73 schools with active exposures are Beattie Elementary, NorKam Secondary, Aberdeen Elementary, Arthur Stevenson Elementary, Westsyde Secondary, and the Twin Rivers Education Centre.
After 14 days without any further cases, exposures are no longer considered active by Interior Health.
