The Independent Investigation Office is looking into an incident in Kamloops where a man was Tasered.
RCMP says Kamloops officers responded on Friday night, at 11:20 p.m., to a report of a disturbance at Columbia Street and Pemberton Terrace in lower Sahali. Police say a man was reportedly yelling and screaming in the street and had thrown a rock at a car.
Officers arrived and found the man a short distance away, in the 400-block of Pemberton Terrace, and police say the man resisted arrest before he was Tasered.
The suspect went into medical distress after being handcuffed, and was taken to hospital in serious condition.
RCMP have now notified the IIO, which will determine if police invention led to the man’s injuries.
