
One person has now died from COVID-19 at the Westsyde Care Residences in Kamloops, where an outbreak of the virus continues.
There have been no new cases since Sunday at the facility, which houses people with brain injuries and spinal injuries, but one person has now died. Interior Health has not said if that death was a resident or not. There have been 26 total cases there and 17 are active.
Meanwhile, Interior Health is reporting one new staff member at Royal Inland Hospital who has tested positive for COVID-19 today. The outbreak now has seen 105 total cases, including 69 staff and 36 patients. There are 40 active cases and one patient has died from the virus.
The outbreak declared yesterday in Kamloops at the Highridge Home and Singh House in Brocklehurst, which provides 24-7 care to residents, is now up to seven total cases, which is one more than yesterday. The outbreak includes six staff and one resident, and six cases are active.
Also, there was no change today in the outbreak at the Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre. That outbreak remains at 25 cases, including 17 staff and eight residents. There are just two active cases and two residents there have died from the virus.
