
Interior Health reported new COVID-19 cases today at three healthcare facilities in Kamloops with active outbreaks.
The outbreak at Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre is now up to 26 cases after another staff member tested positive. It means there are now 18 staff and eight residents who have tested positive, with three cases currently active. Two residents have also died as a result of the outbreak.
The Westsyde Care Residence group home outbreak is up by one resident to 27 total cases. In all, 15 residents and 12 staff have tested positive with 17 cases active. The first death at that facility was reported yesterday.
Also, at the Highridge Home and Singh House, two more staff members tested positive taking the total to nine cases. There are now eight staff members and one resident who tested positive, with eight of those cases active. No deaths have been reported.
There was no growth today at Royal Inland Hospital outbreak which remains at 105 cases, 69 staff and 36 patients. On a positive note, 34 cases are active which is six fewer than yesterday.
Interior Health saw 58 new cases of COVID-19 reported today, though the active case count dropped to 899, the first time since early January where its been below the 900 mark. Across the health authority, there are 43 people in hospital, with 13 people in intensive care unit.
