Police seized a shotgun, ammunition, and a loaded rifle from a vehicle that was stopped after driving the wrong way down Columbia Street in Kamloops last night.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says the incident happened just before 10:30 p.m. She says the driver refused to pull over and drove into a “police only” parking lot. She did not specifically say where that parking lot was.
Police ordered a man and woman inside to get out of the vehicle after cornering it in the parking lot, and Evelyn says a shotgun was seen in the front seat when the woman stepped out.
Evelyn says after searching the vehicle, police also seized ammunition and a loaded rifle which had been stolen.
Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
Thirty-two-year-old Napoleon James Tallthunderboy Ross and 23-year-old Lanaesha Sha’Lynn Paul-Paquette, who are both from Kamloops, now each face several charges.
Both Ross and Paul-Paquette were expected to appear in court this afternoon.
