A new exposure of COVID-19 was reported today at Sa-Hali Secondary, after a new exposure popped up yesterday at Valleyview Secondary.
The risk of exposure at Sa-Hali was on Tuesday, while the risk at Valleyview is from Feb. 9-12. As of yesterday, there was just one case in each of those exposure events, according to Kamloops-Thompson School District assistant Superintendent Bill Hamblett.
Right now there are three active school exposures in Kamloops, with the third being at South Kam Secondary School. That exposure was declared on Tuesday, with the risk dates being Feb. 5 and Feb. 8-12.
Hamblett reiterates that anyone at risk of exposure in those schools would have been contacted by contact tracers and told to self-isolate. He says it’s safe for other students to be in class.
“That piece is important, that schools are safe places for teaching and learning. And we appreciate all the work staff are doing and that students are following protocols.”
Two weeks ago, there were 10 active COVID-19 exposures in Kamloops schools.
At one point, the most significant of those exposures, at Sa-Hali Secondary, led to four out of every five students being told to self-isolate.
