Kamloops RCMP are trying to find a shoplifter who allegedly chased an employee with a hammer.

Const. Crystal Evelyn says it happened last weekend, on Saturday night at about 8:20 p.m., at a business in the 1000-block of Hillside Drive.

Evelyn says an employee confronted a woman who was trying to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. At that point, the suspect allegedly chased the employee with a hammer and also threatened to stab them.

The suspect is described at being between 25 and 30 years old. She’s white and has red hair, and was wearing a black coat, a pink and blue backpack, black pants and black shoes when it happened.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
