The Managing Director at Kamloops Airport says he expects Trans Mountain to be done work at the airport by this summer.
Ed Ratuski tells NL News most of the major work at the airport has already been completed.
“They had some slight delays with the project as they were coming across the airport property. There was no real impact to the operation here but that’s what we understand here,” he said. “Right now, their schedule is showing them finishing up their work here early in the summer. They were super to work it.”
Trans Mountain says it began working at Kamloops Airport last September, noting that some of the work left at YKA along Tranquille Road should begin in a couple of months.
With the project having resumed two weeks ago after a nearly two-month shutdown, Trans Mountain is still expecting peak construction across the pipeline project to happen later this year.
“We are reviewing the impacts to our construction timeline and are working through strategies to mitigate delays,” a statement said.
“With peak construction expected later this year, we are taking the time now to renew and reinforce our commitments to the people and communities who are relying on us to complete this Project in a safe, timely and efficient manner.”
