Kamloops RCMP say a woman was given a ticket for impaired driving after a police vehicle was hit this past Friday, Feb. 19.
RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says the police vehicle had its lights on and was making a U-turn near Grand Boulevard on the Trans Canada Highway when it was hit by an eastbound vehicle.
“The officer inside the cruiser received minor injuries,” she said. “The other vehicle drove away, leaving its driver’s side door embedded in the police vehicle’s front right bumper.”
Evelyn says police were able to find and arrest the woman as part of their investigation into the incident.
In addition to a 24-hour driving prohibition, the unidentified woman was also charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, as well as failing to yield or stop for an emergency vehicle.
Evelyn adds the woman suffered minor injuries after the crash, but there is no update on her condition today.
