Police are warning people in Barnhartvale to be wary after a white van appeared to be stalking childing near a school.
Kamloops RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called at 4 p.m. yesterday, saying a caravan-style white van was following two kid on Meadowland Crescent. The driver apparently circled the oval-shaped street five times, and stopped while staring at the kids at one point.
Evelyn says the driver left the scene when one of the kids took out a cell phone.
The van’s driver is described as being a man in his 30s who had a mohawk and was wearing sunglasses.
Evelyn says police are asking for any home surveillance or dash cam footage of the driver.
She also asks that kids review street safety with their kids.
“While this investigation is still ongoing and we don’t have all the fact and information available, discussing good safety habits and tips is a always a good idea.”
Those tips for kdis can include knowing your home address and home phone number, knowing how to contact your parents on their cell phones, and always walking with a buddy and avoiding talking to strangers.
Anyone with information on yesterday’s incident is being asked to call Kamloops RCMP 250-828-3000, and to reference file number 2021-5859.
