A COVID-19 exposure has been reported at Savona Elementary School.
It is the first time that a school in that community has reported a COVID exposure, which Interior Health says happened this past Monday, March 1.
There was also more exposure to COVID-19 at NorKam Secondary in Kamloops. According to Interior Health, exposures may have occurred between Feb. 24 and Feb. 26, adding to the previously reported dates of Feb. 18 and Feb. 19.
All told, there are nine Kamloops-Thompson School District schools with an active exposure. The other Kamloops exposures are at South Kamloops, and Valleyview secondary schools as well as Beattie, Arthur Stevenson, and Kay Bingham elementary schools, along with the Kamloops School of the Arts.
The other SD73 exposure is at Chase Secondary School.
There are also active exposures at Merritt Secondary and Collettville Elementary in Merritt.
As has been the policy, school officials say if parents haven’t been contacted by public health teams, their kids are not at risk of developing COVID-19. If you have questions or concerns about COVID-19, you’re also asked to contact 811.
After 14 days without any further cases, exposures are no longer considered active by Interior Health.
