
Health officials have reported 832 new cases of COVID-19 today in B.C., including 42 in Interior Health.
There were also five deaths reported today from the virus.
Elsewhere, there were 388 cases in Fraser Health, 310 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 53 in Island Health and 39 in Northern Health.
There are now 296 people in hospital with the virus and 79 people in intensive care. Active cases are up to 7,571.
Meanwhile, 787,649 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to just over 700,200 people.
There have also been 90 new variant of concern cases reported in B.C. over the past two days, including 80 of the U.K. variant, one of the South African variant and nine of the Brazil variant.
Province-wide, there are 192 active variant of concerns and 35 of those people are in hospital.
In Interior Health, as of early Thursday afternoon, chief medical health officer Dr. Albert de Villiers says there had been 70 total variant of concern cases reported in the health authority, including 27 of P.1 Brazil variant. de Villiers says of those 70 total variant cases, five are active, and four of those active cases are the P.1 variant.
Earlier this week, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said there had been a couple of clusters of the P.1 Brazil variant in Interior Health. de Villiers gave clarity on those comments, says those clusters were essentially isolated to household, with five-to-10 cases in each cluster.
