An early morning fire on the Tk’emlups reserve had Kamloops Fire and Rescue crews on their toes.
Flames could be seen for several kilometres as calls came in from different parts of the city just after 3:00 am.
KFR Platoon Captain Jim Gorman describes what crews found when they arrived. “The crews just arrived last night to a large slash pile on fire at about 4:00 am to no obvious source of ignition so cause of the fire is undetermined at this point.”
Gorman told NL News they’re letting it burn down for a bit. “Right now they’re guarding it just to keep it from spreading and they need some more machinery in there to start taking it apart, it’s quite a large pile of land clearing debris. It’s not something we can do by hand so they’re working out logistics of how to full extinguish it at the present time.”
Gorman says it’s too early to speculate if they fire was deliberately set.
