UPDATED: 11:50 a.m.
Kamloops RCMP have now cleared a scene in Aberdeen after reports of a “loud bang” earlier this morning.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to an address on Turnberry Place at 10:17 a.m., and she says initial reports were that there may have been a gun shot.
“As you can imagine, whenever there is a call like this – a report of a loud bang, possibly a gun shot – it warrants a high police presence due to the risk assessment involved.”
She says there was no evidence of a gunshot, and says a cause of the loud bang heard is inconclusive.
Pacific Way Elementary was placed under a hold-and-secure after police were called, but that has now been lifted.
BC Emergency Health Services had responded with three paramedic crews which were staged, but BCEHS spokesperson Sarah Morris says crews were not needed and their call to attend was cancelled by police.
