
B.C. has reported 1,168 new cases of COVID-19 today, as well as six new deaths from the virus.
Of those cases, 105 were in Interior Health. Another 632 were in Fraser Health, while 341 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 64 in Island Health and 26 in Northern Health.
The test positive rate today was 9.5 per cent, as 12,221 people were tested for COVID-19.
There are now a record 397 people in hospital with the virus across B.C., and a near-record 120 people in intensive care. In Interior Health, there are 22 people in hospital and nine in intensive care.
Active cases rose modestly from yesterday, to 9,821 today. Another 16,304 people are in self-isolation after being exposed to someone with the virus. There are 944 active cases in the Interior.
Meanwhile, 1,190,832 vaccine doses have now been distributed, to just over 1.1 million different people.
The province says anyone 55 and older can book a vaccine dose. People between 55 and 65 years old can book a vaccine appointment at local pharmacies to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine, and anyone 64 and older can be immunized at a general vaccine clinic.
Further, any Indigenous resident who is 18 and older and any person considered “clinically extremely vulnerable” who is 16 and older can book an appointment.
