UPDATED:
A mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Logan Lake had to move outdoors this morning because of a power outage.
A fire caused the power to go out last night just after 11 p.m., and didn’t go back on until almost noon today. The outage also affected Mamette Lake, Tunkwa Lake, Paska Lake and Lac Le Jeune.
Logan Lake Mayor Robin Smith says the vaccine clinic was able to continue on in the parking lot of the Logan Lake Rec Centre. She says as far as she knew, nobody missed a vaccine appointment they had scheduled.
“They managed to get it set up really quickly this morning with the changes there, and thank goodness that the good weather has held out for us. Because that would create its challenges for us, no question,” Smith says.
“They actually did have a little bit of a break, because they started out outside this morning. But then once the power came on just before noon, they had a few-minute break just to kind of move everybody indoors. I actually happened to be there getting my own vaccine at that time. And they moved everybody indoors.”
Smith thanked public works crews and Interior Health for their work during the outage to keep the clinic on track.
Between Monday and Thursday this week, anyone in Logan Lake aged 18 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine. It’s one of several dozen rural communities in Interior Health where a mobile vaccine clinic has been scheduled.
