Businesses of all sorts have had to make major changes through the pandemic – including – clowns.
In Kamloops, Uncle Chris the Clown is normally a fixture at fairs and festivals in the summer months, and of course at birthday parties but due to COVID-19 he’s had to be – different.
“Thank you for calling me different,” he said on NL Newsday.
Nowadays, Uncle Chris is performing for kids and grown-ups on front lawns and even over zoom for some adults – and he says – he’s doing alright.
“I call them grown-up shows. You don’t want to call them adult shows. That’s not good. Not good,” he said.
Now that he’s not travelling to festivals where he’d spend a whole day, he’s able to turn more frowns upside-down in a single day. Recently, he says, he was able to fit in five smaller shows in a one day.
“Basically all my big events are gone but I just have lots and lots of little ones because there isn’t a lot people can do, so at least they can still have a proper birthday party with a clown there,” said Uncle Chris.
“In good times, everyone wants a clown. In bad times, everyone needs a clown.”
