Kamloops RCMP are looking to identify a “person of interest” after a smash-and-grab in Valleyview early this morning.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called at 5:20 a.m. today to the 2000-block of Glenwood Drive after a vehicle was broken into. The caller told officers their vehicle had its window smashed at about 3:45 a.m. and had their purse and wallet stolen.
Evelyn says someone rummaged through a second vehicle that was unlocked.
Surveillance, pictured above, video shows a man walking, who Evelyn says is a person of interest in this morning’s theft. She is asking anyone who knows who that person is to contact Kamloops RCMP.
Police regularly tell residents not to leave valuables in their vehicles, especially in plain sight, as a way to avoid crimes of opportunity. Last week, between April 26 and May 2, there were 25 vehicles broken into in Kamloops, compared to 34 the week prior and 31 the week before that.
