
New data from the BC CDC shows there were 57 new COVID-19 cases in the Kamloops local health area during the week of April 25 and May 1.
That is a slight increase from the 46 cases reported the week prior from April 18 to April 24 in the area that includes the City of Kamloops as well as Barriere, Sun Peaks, Little Fort, Chase, Tobiano, Savona, and Logan Lake.
The Kelowna-area continues to see the highest number of cases in the Thompson-Okanagan region with 174 new cases last week, down from the 215 cases the week before.
However, the number of cases in the Summerland area more than doubled from 12 to 28, one of two areas in the Interior with an average daily rate of 20 per 100,000 people, the other being Golden which reported 16 new cases, up from 15 last week.
Other local health areas around Kamloops saw fewer new cases last week, including Salmon Arm which had nine (down from 20 last week) and Vernon with 25 (down from 36).
There were two new cases in the Merritt and 100 Mile local health areas, while the Cariboo/Chilcotin had five. There were zero cases in the North Thompson, South Cariboo, and Lillooet local health areas.
The majority of new cases in B.C. continues to be in the Lower Mainland, with several local health areas there recording more than 15 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people last week.
