RCMP say it was a “risky” rescue last week when first responders pulled a dog to safety which was stuck on a cliff in Logan Lake.
A hiker at Mimi Falls called Logan Lake RCMP on Wednesday, April 28, just after 11 a.m., to say a dog had become stuck on part of a cliff above the falls.
Police say local RCMP officer Const. Kyle Vanditmars and Logan Lake fire chief Doug Wilson hiked out to the falls and spoke with the dog’s owners, who were an elderly couple. Their 80-pound American Bulldog Terrier named Chevy had become stuck down an embankment almost 10 feet below a cliff, and was in a “precarious” spot above the 30-metre deep canyon.
Mounties say Vanditmars and Wilson used climbing gear and rappelled down to rescue Chevy and bring her higher up the hill.
They called this a “rare” and “risky” rescue.
