UPDATE: 2:45 p.m.
Kamloops RCMP say a “high-risk vehicle takedown” in Valleyview this morning was preceded by a shooting at a home in the Shuswap.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says the shooting happened at about 6:45 a.m. today at a home in Anglemont, on Fairview Road. From that scene, one man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Evelyn says a suspect vehicle was seen fleeing the scene, and, at about 9:40 a.m., police patrolling in Pritchard followed a vehicle towards Kamloops that matched its description.
The takedown happened at Commazzetto Road and Valleyview Drive, but the vehicle stopped was not associated to the incident. Witnesses say a spike belt had been laid down but it’s unclear if it was deployed.
At this time, police are still looking for a suspect from this morning’s shooting. Evelyn says the suspect and victim knew each other and that there’s likely no risk to the general public.
Anyone with information is now being asked to call Chase RCMP at 250-679-3221.
