B.C. is reporting 515 new cases of COVID-19 today and two deaths from the virus.
There were 65 new cases today in Interior Health, and elsewhere there were 300 cases in Fraser Health, 116 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 20 in Island Health and 12 in Northern Health. Two other people who live outside of Canada have also tested positive here today.
The number of new cases today is the lowest daily case count since March 25, which was three days before circuit breaker restrictions were brought in.
Those circuit breaker restrictions will be in place for at least two more weeks, until May 25, which ban indoor dining and indoor fitness classes. During that time, road checks are also preventing non-essential travel between the southern Interior, Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
There are now 426 people in hospital with the virus, which is 11 more than yesterday, and 141 people in intensive care, which is down from 150 yesterday. Active cases have dropped slightly, now to 6,020.
Meanwhile, another 60,721 vaccine doses have been administered in the past day, which means 2,219,856 vaccines have now been administered. Of those, 110,516 are second doses.
As of last night, anyone who is 40 or older in the province is able to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
