WorkSafeBC has fined the Village of Cache Creek more than $8,000 for not keeping a close enough eye on gas monitoring at its water treatment plant.
According to a WorkSafeBC’s penalty summary webpage, the fine of $8,135.02 was handed down on April 9th.
The agency says it found workers weren’t doing “bump tests” for gas monitoring at water treatment facilities before going into confined spaces. It also says the gas monitors has the wrong alarm settings and were not calibrated.
It says the village did not do good enough testing before workers entered confined spaces.
WorkSafeBC called this a “repeated” and “high-risk” violation by the village.
