After a weekend heat wave in southern B.C., a change in weather is expected to bring snow on parts of the Coquihalla Highway starting tonight.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt, saying five-to-10 centimetres of snow are expected to fall between tonight and Tuesday evening.
The forecast says a cold front will drape over southern B.C. and that the snow level will be at about 1,000 metres. The Coquihalla Summit is about 1,440 metres.
This change in weather comes after a heat wave over the weekend which saw Kamloops reach 31.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday. It was the second-warmest place in Canada yesterday, with only Ashcroft being warmer at 31.5.
Kamloops is expecting cloudy skies and a chance of showers for Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperature highs of 13 and 14 degrees on those days, respectively.
