
New data released by the BC Centre for Disease Control shows 32 new cases in the Kamloops area during the week of May 9 to May 15.
That is down from the 33 cases reported during the previous week in the area that includes the City of Kamloops as well as Barriere, Sun Peaks, Little Fort, Chase, Tobiano, Savona, and Logan Lake.
In the Kelowna area, there was an increase in new cases with 185 reported last week, compared to 162 between May 2 and May 8.
Other local health areas around Kamloops also saw slight increases in the number of new COVID-19 cases, including Merritt which had two cases last week, up from one the previous week.
There was an increase in the Cariboo/Chilcotin and 100 Mile local health areas which reported five and four new cases respectively, up from two and one respectively.
Salmon Arm though reported four new cases, down from nine, while Vernon had 19 cases, down from 22. There was one new case in the North Thompson and none in the South Cariboo and Lillooet local health areas.
The majority of new COVID-19 cases in B.C. continues to be in the Surrey, Abbotsford, and Mission areas in the Lower Mainland.
As of today, health officials say everyone over the age of 12 is able to register for a COVID-19 vaccine.
