Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian is encouraging younger Kamloopsians to go out and get a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“That’s the age group that I really want to see, that kind of 20 to 40 age group and we’re getting close, we’re getting so close we can almost taste it to be able to lift some of these restrictions and get things back to normal.”
Christian says we need to get everyone in the que for an inoculation. “I kind of draw a comparison to a forest fire. We work hard to get the major part of the fire out and then we kind of forget about the forest fire, but we should not do that. The unvaccinated populations are like the hot spots in a forest fire. You have to keep working on them and make sure you get them all out or else that can flare up.”
“We really need to, as a community, take this last push to get the one dose into the arms of as many Kamloopsians as we possibly can and then work with the health authority to get our second shots going forward.”
As of now, anyone in BC over the age of 12 can book a first dose.
